Minecraft is No Longer Supporting Virtual Reality

Minecraft is No Longer Supporting Virtual Reality (VR)

Minecraft virtual reality VR is unfortunately coming to an end in March 2025, as announced in the Bedrock Edition 1.21.40 change log. Minecraft will no longer support All types of VR, including Oculus, Meta Quest, Apple Vision, Playstation, etc. Even Mixed Reality headsets. Any worlds you have created or Minecraft Marketplace purchases made using VR, or MR will still be available; you can access them on a computer and any non-VR/MR device.

Why Is Minecraft No Longer Supporting VR?

Many Minecraft players don't use VR or MR to play Minecraft. So, Mojang having to maintain VR support is not worth it based on their data. Instead, they decided to focus more on improving the quality of normal gameplay and performance. Since community feedback suggested VR/MR can be enjoyable for exploring, it didn't provide any special features for regular gameplay.

Is it possible to play Minecraft VR after March 2025?

It wouldn't be possible to play Minecraft VR on any updates after March 2025. On all versions of Minecraft, including Java, bedrock and Pocket edition. However, you can use Java Mods such as Vivecraft And QuestCraft to simulate Minecraft VR.

In conclusion, Mojang's decision to discontinue VR was based on player engagement data and the challenges in maintaining it. It's in their best interests to provide the best experience for the community. So, ending VR support to focus on gameplay experience might be a step in the right direction for the community.
